COVID Protocol

If you are traveling back to the United States, Canada, or beyond, you will need a coronavirus test for travel. You must take a test within 72 hours before your flight. We can help you with this process either by reserving a spot for you at Hotelito Los Suenos, or by suggesting other testing sites in Sayulita.

In order to travel to and from Puerto Vallarta, you must be vaccinated.

From the hotel General Manager:

Hotelito Los Suenos COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update February, 2021

"We are open and if you've been here before we welcome you back. We understand our responsibility in making our hotel a safe place for you to enjoy the Mexican sun. We have taken steps to insure you will continue to be safe with us. Some of the protocol we have put in place:

  • 1.  All staff wear protective masks while taking care of guests.
  • 2. All staff wash their hands every 30 minutes.
  • 3. All public places are disinfected every 1 hour.
  • 4. We have changed the breakfast buffet area to insure proper distancing.
  • 5. We have placed hand sanitizers throughout the hotel.
  • 6. All staff keep a minimum of 2 meters (6 feet) distance between staff.
  • 7. During the routine cleaning of rooms guests are not allowed to stay in the room.
  • 8. We have installed separation dividers at the front desk and kitchen.
  • 9. Staff wears gloves during the day in the course of their work.

The (popular!) scheduled yoga classes have also started. We are fortunate because of the large size of our studios, we can enjoy social distancing between students of 2 meters. We have limited our studio to only 12 students per class. Normal capacity is 40. The yoga studios are in palapas which allows for excellent movement of air. All the yoga mats and props are disinfected after each class.

Our efforts are producing good results. Our staff are all healthy with no cases of COVID and our Guests too have all kept well.

We have arranged for COVID testing at the hotel for any guests requiring a test before their departure.

Valentina Zotti
General Manager"

** PLEASE NOTE ** The US requires a COVID test within 3 days before you travel and land on US soil. You must be able to provide proof of the test and its results.

GETTING TO HOTELITO LOS SUENOS
From Puerto Vallarta airport it’s a short 45-minute drive by taxi. The cost for a one-way fare is approximately $80 USD. This price can be significantly reduced if you share a taxi with other participants. GSY can inform you of someone who might be landing near the same time as your plane arrives.

Hotelito Los Suenos can arrange for a driver to pick you up at the airport for a good rate. Alternatively you can take the bus across the highway from the airport for about $2.50 USD. (James Knight has done this and it only takes approx. 15 - 20 minutes longer than a taxi and is adequately comfortable. If you choose this option you will need Mexican Pesos).

The bus stop is reached by crossing the overpass, which is to the left when you exit the airport. The bus is a bit slower than a taxi, with stops along the way and a few more bumps. It’s a 10 minute walk from the bus stop in Sayulita to the hotel.
** PLEASE NOTE **

  • Please budget $85 each way for a taxi from the airport to Hotelito Los Suenos. This is NOT included in your payment.
  • If you are willing to exit the airport and cross the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the highway, taxi’s can be $30 cheaper. We will send more information in an email and it will be on your thank you page.
  • Cash versus credit cards: Many restaurants, street vendors, and taxi's will only take cash. The hotel will take credit cards but cannot do money exchange.
  • Typically ATM's in Sayulita have better fee rates than currency exchange companies at the airport (we don't recommend this). There are smaller exchange companies in Sayulita that you can exchange money but sometimes can be hard to find. James will suggest places during orientation.
  • There are no banks in Sayulita. But you can have your bank send you Mexican Pesos if they offer that service. Most vendors in Sayulita will take US Dollars but it is tricky if you don't know the going rate of exchange.
  • Soon we will draft a document and attach it to this page of a list of what to bring, including things like bug spray and flashlights.
  • Please be aware of your health insurance restrictions and look into travel insurance. There may be hazards in Mexico such as cobblestone streets, uneven or cracked surfaces, weather, getting an upset stomach (which is avoidable for the most part if you are mindful), etc.
  • Everything is safe to eat at our hotel. They wash all the vegetables and food in purified water.
  • Most everything is safe to eat in the restaurants and cafes around town. Ice in drinks (margaritas!) are reliably fine because it comes from purified water. Even the street tacos are ok. The locals don't want tourists to get sick, otherwise they would not come back. We will review this topic in detail during the orientation after you arrive.
  • If you want to stay proactive with good digestion, we recommend bringing grapefruit seed extract and put it in your daily drinking water. Activated charcoal can help an upset stomach. All of the pharmacies in Sayulita carry every kind of drug you can imagine and you do not need a prescription.

You will fly in to Puerta Vallarta International Airport (PVR)
